Hace algunos días publicamos en la página del Facebook y Google+ de la bodega algunas fotos de la poda en seco que hicimos en la tierra.
Ahora, os explicamos en qué consiste y para qué sirve.
Durante el año se realizan dos tipos de poda, la poda en seco y la poda en verde. Como el nombre indica, una se realiza cuando no hay vegetación y la segunda, una vez nuestros viñedos están verdes.
La poda en seco se realiza cada invierno, una vez que cepa está en estado vegetativo y antes de que tenga nuevos brotes. El objetivo es regular y distribuir la carga en la planta, favorecer la regeneración y darle forma. Es muy importante realizarla cuando la savia no circule por los sarmientos de la vid para evitar posibles daños en la cepa.
Nosotros la hacemos a mano, con tijeras de poda y gracias a la ayuda de nuestro equipo de podadores. Una vez se han podado los sarmientos, sellamos los cortes más grandes con una pintura especial, ya que no queremos que queden expuestos y que puedan contraer alguna enfermedad y/o bacteria.
Un buen cuidado de la tierra y, por tanto, de las viñas es vital para poder dar calidad al vino. Escogemos las fechas clave para realizar las labores necesarias y favorecer el desarrollo de la materia prima.

In this post, we are going to explain what the winter pruning is and its aim.
During the year, two types of pruning are made in the vineyard: the winter pruning and the green pruning: one is made in winter and the other one when the vines are green and full of life.
The winter pruning is made in summer (no, just kidding, in winter) before the vine gets its new shoots and when the sap is not running through the shoots. The aim of this pruning is to control and distribute the vine load, assist its regeneration and give shape to the vine.
We prune by hand with special pruning scissors and thanks to the help of our pruning team. Once the vine shoots are cut, we seal the bigger cuts in order to prevent the vine from diseases.
A proper care of the vineyard is vital for achieving a good wine quality. We choose the key dates to work in the land and so assist the growth process of the raw material.
